Gretchen S. Kolb
Gretchen enjoys working with clients to provide quality legal services. She looks forward to maintaining long-term relationships and believes that one of the joys of practicing law is getting to know the people in the community and their circumstances in life.
“Let’s find the practical solution to your problem, in addition to the legal answer. I seek to help solve the client’s problem within the big picture. One of my favorite quotes is the one about being careful that one does not win the battle, but lose the war! Being an effective attorney is an art.”
Advising small business owners so that they may continue in business; manage their risk; manage their partner and shareholder relationships; expand; become more profitable; and help them to consider all their options is intriguing for this business school graduate.
Working with individuals and businesses who have felt plowed under by the Internal Revenue Service for nonpayment of income taxes or employment taxes, Gretchen can help them evaluate whether they have the ability to pay; whether they can keep their family home or business assets; or whether they need to demonstrate to the IRS that they have no ability to pay and should be deemed uncollectible.
Listening to a client who has difficult decisions to make about his or her estate planning needs is another area of special interest to Gretchen. She can advise the client as to how matters are usually handled; what the client’s options are; and remind the client that they can always prepare a document to fit today’s desires, and reevaluate in the future. The important consideration is to have a basic estate planning document so that the State does not divide one’s assets.
